Gunner Cave was the son of Charles Henry and Mary Elizabeth Cave of Bishop's Court Farm at Shapwick, which was shared with other members of an extended family, some of whom farmed there until the 1960s.
The place and circumstances of Edward Cave's death are not known. However, it must have occurred in the U.K., since he was brought back to Shapwick, where he lies in the churchyard of St. Bartholomew's Church.
